President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris, labeling her as a “radical left lunatic” at a campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina. Trump accused Harris of supporting socialist healthcare, nation-wrecking inflation, and the death of American energy, among other things. He also criticized her record on abortion and immigration, claiming she would destroy the country if elected.
Trump’s comments came as Democratic nominee Joe Biden praised Harris as “experienced”, “tough” and “capable”. Biden reiterated his support for his running mate, highlighting her leadership qualities and partnership. Harris, who has become the de facto Democratic nominee after Biden’s exit from the presidential race, hit the campaign trail in Indiana where she sought support from a historically Black sorority.
Despite Trump’s attacks, polls show Harris improving on the president’s performance against Trump. However, she still trails in most polls and faces questions about her appeal among the general electorate. Harris has been campaigning on a platform focused on the nation’s future, contrasting it with what she calls Trump’s focus on the past.
As the race for the White House heats up, both Trump and Harris are making efforts to rally support and present their visions for the country. With the November election approaching, the discourse between Republicans and Democrats is expected to intensify as they vie for the support of the American people.
