Connecticut woman discovered deceased just hours before scheduled sentencing for spouse’s murder

A woman in Connecticut, Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi, was found dead at her home just hours before she was scheduled to be sentenced for killing her husband and hiding his body while collecting his paychecks. The cause of her death is under investigation. Kosuda-Bigazzi was set to receive 13 years in prison for the death of her husband, Dr. Pierluigi Bigazzi in 2017. She claimed self-defense, stating he attacked her with a hammer during an argument about repairs to their home. His body was found in their basement in an advanced state of decomposition, with blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators believe he died in July 2017, yet his paychecks continued to be deposited until his body was discovered. An internal investigation at UConn revealed a medical official who was supposed to monitor Dr. Bigazzi’s work had not been in contact with him leading up to his death. Kosuda-Bigazzi’s lawyer expressed surprise at her unexpected death, stating she was an independent woman in control of her own destiny. This case remains complex, involving a domestic dispute turned deadly and financial fraud with continuing paychecks after the victim’s death.
