A dog named “Amelia Airheart” is recovering well after being thrown from a moving vehicle on Route 44 in Avon. The dog underwent surgery for a broken pelvis, which was successfully mended by Lesham Emergency Vet. Avon Animal Control officers are currently vetting foster applications to care for Amelia during her one-month recovery period, seeking a quiet and calm home for the 1-year-old Lhasa Apso. The incident occurred near Petco and Puerto Vallarta, and Avon police are searching for a blue SUV in connection with the event. Animal control officers thanked the community for supporting Amelia’s surgery, which amounted to $6,000. Two girls witnessed the incident and brought the dog to safety, leading to her rescue and successful surgery. The community’s donations and support have been crucial in ensuring Amelia’s well-being and recovery, and Avon Animal Control expressed gratitude for the assistance received.
